"A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, but knowledge is easy to him who understands." (Pro 14:6)
~The Bible teaches us that wisdom is far from those who are given to the habit of only criticizing, mocking, scorning, and scoffing at others all the time. They may derive a sense of enjoyment in this, but they only keep moving away from any possibility of obtaining wisdom. A willingness to understand is required in one who desires to have wisdom. The scornful are like the chaff that is blown away with the wind (Ps.1). The Bible talks about scoffers in the last days who will question the word of God (2Pet.3:3). These mockers desire freedom to do whatever they like, walking according to their lusts (Jude 1:18). But, those who wish to understand will find knowledge and wisdom. The lover of truth is first humble, confessing that he doesn't know everything and willing to learn from even a child; secondly, he is serious in his query of truth, neither uncritical nor a lazy critic, but committed to be honest in his query and be willing to accept the truth; thirdly, he has the ability to understand because his faculty of understanding is sharp from right use; fourthly, it is easy for him to know, while it is very difficult for the scoffer to make sense of the truth.
